ATTORNEY GRIEVANCE COMM'N v. HUNT

Issue: What sanction should the Court impose upon an attorney who represented a criminal defendant on a pro bono basis in Maryland District Court, and made a false statement to Bar Counsel about his pro hac vice admission to the Maryland Bar?

Holding: A 60 day suspension from the practice of law is the appropriate sanction for a non-Maryland attorney who had not engaged in a pattern of dishonest conduct and whose unauthorized practice of law, while improper, was not motivated by self-interest.

Alleged Violations: Maryland Lawyers' Rules of Professional Conduct ("MLRPC") 1.1 (Competence), 1.3 (Diligence), 1.4 (Communication), 5.5 (Unauthorized Practice of Law, Multijurisdictional Practice of Law), 8.1 (Bar Admission and Disciplinary Matters), and 8.4 (Misconduct).
